The Ketogenic Diet was actually founded for its ability to mimic fasting. Fasting is a wonderful tool that can be used when following a Ketogenic Diet. However, it is not required and it is often much easier to implement after you become Keto adapted. Fasting is often times part of the natural progression of the Ketogenic Diet. This is because of the satiety or fullness effect of fat and having ketones in your blood.
While fasting is not required on a Ketogenic Diet, it can have many benefits including getting into ketosis faster, breaking through fat loss plateaus, improving blood sugar regulation, and improved overall health.
