Intermittent fasting is characterized by alternating between time periods of fasting and feeding. This approach to fasting can be done daily if desired. Examples of common IF practices include 16:8, 20:4, and one meal a day.
16:8 - For this fasting protocol you fast for 16 hours and eat for 8 hours.
20:4 - For the 20:4 protocol you fast for 20 hours and eat for 4 hours.
One meal a day: For this protocol you eat 1 large meal a day and fast for the remaining hours of the day.
No matter what protocol you use please ensure you are still eating adequate calories, macronutrients, and micronutrients.
