Do I need carbs?


Contrary to common belief, you actually do not need to consume carbohydrates.  The majority of our body can adapt to using fat and ketones for fuel, completely removing the need to consume carbohydrates.

There are several parts of our body that do require glucose for energy such as red blood cells and certain portions of our brain.  However, our body can make all of the glucose required through a process known as gluconeogenesis, which is the production of glucose from non-carbohydrate sources.  This completely removes the necessity to have carbs in the diet.
